More info

Advanced Weapons Technology's slide milling fixture will allow the user the ability to make many machine cuts on any 1911 slide while holding it accurately and securely in a milling machine vise.

1911 slides are tapered higher in the rear than the front by ¾ to 1° because the barrel (when in battery) locks up in the back by the same ¾ to 1°; therefore, the barrel is actually pointing down by that same amount within the slide.

In order for the barrel to be held level for firing, the slide must be taller in the back than the front so the sight picture is level. This taper doesn’t allow the bottom of the slide to be used as a reference for flattening, serrating, or contouring the top of the slide because it is not parallel to the bottom.

This fixture allows the slide to be held in a horizontal position, having the ability to pivot in the center and, thereby, offsetting the taper.

This fixture allows a regular end mill to cut a flat top on the slide and a “V” shaped cutter to cut serrations, as well.

Lowering and flaring the ejection port, as well as cutting cocking serrations on both sides of the slide (as well as front and rear) can be accomplished once the setup is complete.
